Beauty in the Quiet, Fleeting Days
There's something sacred about photographing a family in their own home during the first few months with a new baby.
Sessions at home where your family blooms…
You're not just capturing a moment, you're documenting the beginning of their story, in the space where it's all unfolding.
This fresh new family welcomed me into their light-filled, minimal home when their son was eleven weeks old. Their older "baby" a sweet pup named Mia stayed close by, adjusting to her new sibling just like they were.
And everything about the session felt calm, unhurried, and completely them.
Why At-Home Works
When you're in those first weeks with a new baby, the last thing you need is stress about packing everyone up for photos. Being at home changes everything, you have what you need, baby can feed or sleep on their own timeline, and we can take our time.
My newborn sessions are completely baby-led. They're longer and slower because we work on your baby's timeline, not mine. I'm calm, I give lots of positive reinforcement, and there's no rush or pressure.
The Beauty of Your Real Life
What I loved most about this session was how it captured their actual life, not a staged version.
Snuggling together in bed with their pup close by. Time in the light-filled dining area. Outside under festoon lights in their flower bed with late afternoon sun filtering through…pure magic.
Their minimal, eclectic home is where August will grow up. Where first smiles and steps will happen. These everyday details become your family's story.
What Made It Easy
This family trusted the process. They didn't worry about having the "perfect" setup, they just let me document life as it was. They were present with each other, not performing for the camera.
From our first conversation through to the session, we worked at a pace that felt right for them. That communication set the tone for everything.
The early days go so fast. Having photos from these first weeks or months in your home, in your arms, just as you are, this is something you'll treasure forever.
If you're expecting or have just welcomed a baby, let's talk about creating a session that feels easy, unhurried, and completely centered around your family's rhythm.
