The hinterland greeted us with mist, cool air and that slow, cosy feeling that only comes on a rainy day. This family invited me back into their home to capture what they love most about life here and what a joy it was.

Tucked away in the Gold Coast hinterland, this beautiful home embraces you like a warm hug. On this particular day the weather turned cool and overcast. Mist hung low in the trees and raindrops tapped against the balcony roof. Instead of rushing to beat the weather, we leaned into it.

This session was all about home. Their home.

We began inside while the kids jumped on mum & dads bed, then rustled together some snacks for a picnic on the balcony, little hands stealing grapes & cheese, the kind of slow rhythm that rain brings. When the showers eased, we ventured further outside, where the air was fresh and the ground soft.

There is a magic that happens when children are in their own environment. They know exactly where to run. They chased their pup through the fruit trees, kicked soccer balls & smelled flowers from the garden, and laughed until their cheeks were pink.

And then, as the sky started to darken again, we went back inside. Shoes came off, firelight flickered, and marshmallows were toasted. It was simple and so full of heart—the kind of day that will be remembered not for how perfect it looked, but for how it felt.
